From Chad Kubo:
Beginning Lindy Hop aka East Coast Swing (No experience necessary!)
When I signed up for my very first swing dance class, I was in my late 30’s and had never danced a step. I was excited, and also worried that I wouldn’t be any good at it. At first, I probably wasn’t any good at it, but I was hooked instantly by the music, the opportunity to meet new people, and the desire to glide across the floor like the experienced dancers I saw at the dance venues. Almost 30 years later, I’m an advanced dance teacher, but I still feel the same joy and excitement when the music starts. My goal as your beginning swing teacher is to get you hooked on the exhilaration of dancing!

In my classes, I teach “Movement Before Steps!” because once you know the feeling of movement you can repeat it. No one can dance comfortably focusing on just the steps.

Zen Dance is a mixture of hundreds of years of martial arts principles and dance. If dance teachers handed out belts for rank, this class would be black-belt level. Everything you learn will shake the foundations of what you thought Lindy Hop was or could ever be. Learn with us, and challenge what you think you know about frame, musicality, connection, balance, momentum, awareness and power. Once learned, these skills can be applied immediately on the social dance floor, as well as to other dances, sports, and daily life.
