East Coast Swing is a great first dance to learn for beginners of all ages! This versatile 50s dance can be danced to live music in clubs around town, weddings and events. Great music, excellent teacher, come jitterbug with us!
This class is also Lindy Hop 1 and prepares you for even more fun moves in Lindy Hop classes on Monday. |
From Chad Kubo:
East Coast Swing (No experience necessary!)
When I signed up for my very first swing dance class, I was in my late 30’s and had never danced a step. I was excited, and also worried that I wouldn’t be any good at it. At first, I probably wasn’t any good at it, but I was hooked instantly by the music, the opportunity to meet new people, and the desire to glide across the floor like the experienced dancers I saw at the dance venues. Almost 30 years later, I’m an advanced dance teacher, but I still feel the same joy and excitement when the music starts. My goal as your beginning swing teacher is to get you hooked on the exhilaration of dancing!

In my classes, I teach “Movement Before Steps!” because once you know the feeling of movement you can repeat it. No one can dance comfortably focusing on just the steps.
